As a child, some of my most precious memories have always revolved around food.
From big family gatherings with my very small family to Friday pizza night with my mom and siblings.
Some of the best conversations and memories have come with a side of deliciousness.
I’m not well-versed on love languages but I know I love my friends and I also love to feed them. I know that in times in need of comfort, there is always a certain kind of coffee, tea or some other beverage that just has the ability to extinguish the moments of unpredictability just right. These are times of uncertainty. Although our greater society may say shame on me for saying that I look to food in times of uncertainty.
I’d like to say that for the most part, my day-to-day meals are rather responsible, however, I do indulge.
Humans indulge. As a child, one of my favorite meals was always fried potatoes with peppers and onions, topped with a fried egg or two. I think it’s funny that of all the more complicated meals my mother has prepared for us, something so simple would be responsible for so much joy. (I’m also a potato head so that helps.) I bought two potatoes at the market while I was getting my quarantine food. As someone who Is trying to mind what I eat, I find it easier to indulge in the things I like when I can just buy one or two as opposed to an entire bag of potatoes.
Peppers and onions are a part of my everyday diet whether I’m throwing them in a scramble egg combo or in a salad. If I didn’t think it was weird I’d probably just eat peppers by themselves. I love projects, in the process of creating something to get my mind off things with an outcome I can feel confident in. Some people don’t like food pics but I’m a foodie and so here is my finished product..

I encouraged you this week to dig deep and recall your favorite dish, now that we are in quarantine you may not be able to go out and get it or create it but if you can, get in that kitchen and get busy.
It might make you feel better.
